Just received this Fireside on Wednesday and it came with the black plastic scales. Nice looking blade however it could have been sharper but it was only $30 plus I can take care of that issue. So what do you do when you can't find aftermarket scales for you Skallywag and have a ton of extra Corian laying around to choose from? You take 6 hours to sketch out and make your own at home. I can say that these are my best and worst knife scales I have ever made, because I've never made any before. So yeah I'm pretty happy with how they came out. I made them a little longer and added a slight turndown at the back of the grip to give me a more firm grip. They also add to a slimmer profile then those plastic ones and much more grip even without grooves or texturing. I may add the lanyard hole later but I'm liking how it looks without it rightnow. Best part is the fact that Corian is the same all the way through if I scratch it I can sand it right out with some 220 - 400 grit and then buff it clean with a scrub pad. I might order the Persian blade so I can make another set from some of my other Corian stock. This is my second Skallywag knife, having recently bought the Crows Nest at Scheels a few weeks ago, so far I can say I like their knives but well see how they hold up over time.

Convenient fixed blade knife. I like the look of the knife. It is a handy size, especially for something you can carry on your belt. It was sharp, but could have been sharper out of the box. The handle is plastic. Overall good value for what you pay for, but personally would have liked a little nicer handle. I'm a little worried that that the plastic will be not as easy to handle in wet conditions.
It's a very nice little knife to keep in the door of my truck, you never know when you might need a Knife. Maybe you could make one just a little bit bigger out of a high carbon steel that would make a nice crafting knife.

Sweet little field knife. Handle fits my hand perfectly. Knife has decent balance and indexes well. I didn't like the sheath at first but it carries and secures well.
This is a great carry knife as it is not too large and fits very well on a belt when carrying horizontal. But the sheath could use to be a bit tighter for a horizontal carry.
I bought this knife for my wife as a gift. She likes the purple color and said it's attractive.

Since it was on sale, I picked this up with the intention of replacing some old kitchen knives. I should have paid more attention to the description as I was taken aback by its small size when I unboxed it. But, it was perfectly honed and feels well balanced in my hand. While I'm not accustomed to the small size in a kitchen, the drop point blade will still work through small vegetables with ease. It was plenty sharp out of the box to beautifuly slice tomatoes. With its compact size, I would definitely recommend adding this and its counterparts, like the Scorpion and Mantis, to your campsite cooking gear.
Love this little "everything" around camp knife. Gonna grab a few more.

Smaller than I thought, but solidly made like all my Scally Wag knives.
The Fireside is a great little EDC fixed. The dang sheath, though, will not button all the way down. It seems secure, but it’s not all the way on.
Really like the knife. It's just the right size for my needs. The workmanship is outstanding.
