I'm an EP specialist out of Houston and I came across this while I was looking for a easily concealable and practical defensive blade to use as a backup or alternative to my firearm, if needed. This tool requires little training and is simple to use, and has one purpose. It's built sturdy and has more ass to it than its SOCP counterpart.

I love it. I put a little bit of knife oil on it cause getting it out of the sheath is kind of stiff but now it’s perfect. I have absolutely no complaints on this dagger.
At one point I thought about having this knife professionally sharpened. But I was apprehensive. Then I email Skallywag. They agreed it would be extremely hard to do. Even as a professional. But the big “deal” with this knife is that is specifically made for an icepick grip. That it’s for puncturing. Not slashing. That the reason for it only being a 40 degree angle, is that it is for putting all that power into the absolute tip. I was kind of aware that this would be the response to asking about sharpening. Still knowing that (being “totally” sure) it wouldn’t be able to be sharpened, I would still have boughten this. Besides if nothing else. This and the Guardian are absolutely gorgeous. I also bought the Guardian.

This is the perfect EDC! I beltline wear this and midline wear this when I have my vest on. Perfect in every aspect! It is a single purpose tool and it excellent at that purpose. You can see that a lot of thought went in to the tool and the sheath. The little prong on the back of the clip makes this the best in this business.
Well I thought I was purchasing a D2 dagger but got sent the aluminum dagger again!! I have the aluminum dagger from a previous purchase so I really wanted the D2 dagger and thought that's what I would get cuz it was on sale but received the aluminum dagger after my order was delayed in the warehouse I'm not entirely upset cuz I like the aluminum dagger just wish I had gotten the D2 other than that I'm a happy skallywag customer!!
The D2 dagger is expertly forged with high quality materials and is extremely sharp.. FDE finish was the right decision.
I love this dagger. It was the same one I had on the set of Superman and I wanted to have a memento to the experience. The quality can definitely be seen in these blades!
I got this dagger on sale for $125 so I'm going to review it at that price point (no one should be paying $200 for a D2 steel knife). Pros: -The sheath is awesome: low profile, comfortable, will stay attached to you in almost any configuration even with a very aggressive draw -The handle: in the stress of combat, you want a successful knife draw under any circumstances. If you've only got one finger left and it's slick with blood you can still draw this knife in an instant while blindfolded (good luck using it in that state, but you get the idea). Also it lays flat which is great for concealment. -Aesthetics: it looks cool as hell Cons: -The tip: with D2 steel, a tip this small is going to snap if it comes in contact with a hard target or is pried from a target it's embedded in. Buyer beware, this knife is weighted perfectly for throwing but if you throw it you will break it (which is why they tell you not to throw it). Fortunately it's not too difficult to put a point back on it, but at this price point you can get knives that will hold up to a lot more abuse. If you buy this knife, use it for soft targets only or be prepared to repair it Conclusion: if they made this out of S5 it would be worth $200; the design is awesome. As is, a very cool looking self defense knife with a very limited application. You decide if it's worth it.
Perfect size and weight, very convenient. Unfortunately I haven't been forced to stab anybody with it so I cannot speak first hand on that 🤷♂️

The D2 Dagger has become an integral part of my EDC. It stays with me at all times. So nice I bought it twice. Really want one in Red and/or a reground one if they ever come back in stock
Skallywag D2 Dagger. I can't say enough good things about this dagger since I've gotten it. I have a preference for daggers/spear point styled blades for self-defense purposes, as I prefer the stabbing/penetration aspect of them. Works great for those who have grappling backgrounds, but then again you can say the same thing for any blade for that matter. Anyway, at first I was skeptical about purchasing this because of how unique it looks compared to other traditional styled daggers, with its shape and larger ring. Finally pulled the trigger on getting one, and wish I hadn't delayed. The shape and feel of it is very streamlined, and feels comfortable to grip. The ring, I thought would take some getting used to, but being able to hold forward or reverse grip work just fine, and was something you can easily adapt to. If you've ever trained with karambits, it feels very similar. You're even able to flip the D2 dagger like a karambit, if you're into fidgeting with your karambits when you're bored, so you'll feel very familiar with the handling of it. The bigger ring makes deployment very easy if you find yourself in a situation where you can't get a great purchase on the blade, and it makes getting the blade into a situation where you can get a better grip on it incredibly fluid. The point of this dagger can penetrate with almost no effort, only requiring the smallest amount of light pressure applied. And then you add in the fact that the blade also widens out as you get closer to the handle portion, this definitely makes some nasty wound channels. The sheath and clip are also some pros to touch on. Secures nicely, and the clip is very similar to DCC clips. It's not so tight that it's difficult to attach to your belt, but not so light that you don't feel that it's not secured. It even attaches securely onto athletic pants/shorts, where you may not be able to wear a belt. Similar to their MDV blade, I highly recommend you use the monkey tape they sell. You can absolutely use regular athletic tape, but the convenience of having the slimmer rolls of tape make personalizing your dagger that much easier. It's not so much getting a better tactile grip on the ring, but improving the ergonomics of it. If you were to just use the ring as is, you will notice the 'hot spots' where if you're used to applying a death grip, the tape helps to mitigate that. I used a combination of using the monkey tape and camo form, putting it near the areas where my middle knuckle makes contact with the rings inner edges. Overall, you won't regret adding this blade to your arsenal. It also makes a great toothpick

The quality of this blade is unmatched, it really show cases the American made quality. The sheath is very comfortable to wear for everyday carry. It is a great blade as a tool and self defense. I would definitely reccomend this to any one who wants to conceal carry.
I’ve had a good amount of experience with knives. From growing up in a dangerous neighborhood, to military service, to training in Kali Escrima, and regretfully being incarcerated for a short time, I’ve seen the brutality and reality of knives. I’ve also purchased from many different reputable companies over the years (Cold Steel, Emerson, Spyderco, etc). And this knife is the hands down BEST knife I have ever owned. Period. It’s masterfully constructed, sharp as a rapier, light as a feather, and its design is exactly what a person would need if the scenario required it. The ring makes it easy to draw in both ice pick and hammer grips, the handle’s construction makes it easy to hold it tightly in any configuration your hand closes around it., and it’s razor sharp point will penetrate anything it comes in contact with. Bravo Skallywag Tactical. My only problem now is that I only ordered one! And now I’m gonna need to purchase several more, because I want one for my EDC, one for my wife, and Hell, I might want one just as a back up to my backups hahahaha! And I can tell you one thing I am certain of is that if this knife were deployed for its intended purpose, what or whoever’s is on the receiving end of it would absolutely be in bad shape once it punctured into them. Well worth the price for such a quality tool.
I’m retired from Law Enforcement and served over 20 years in SWAT. I’m still active in training. I have used the dagger in live fire applications with my sidearm. The knife is great in hand to hand combat(All you need is to create minimal space to use the dagger) . I’m looking forward to trying other products that you produce .
This dagger is dope. Small town LEO here and I carry it on duty in my right cargo pocket, and it is intended to be a last ditch defense against someone trying to take my firearm from me or on top of me pummeling me or something. The tip is razor sharp, I have no doubt it will pierce any amount of clothing. And overall it’s just a super cool piece. One of three knives I carry on my person while on duty, and definently my favorite of the three.
These D2s are what I have been waiting for, for literally 2 years! The PX/BX sells a smaller version by Benchmade - a quality design, but smaller and lighter. And with my small hands, the Benchmade is still just a bit too small to be really functional for me. I had a custom knife maker in Fairbanks, AK (that's Alaska, NOT Arkansas) on the hook for 2 years. Through several frustrating issues, he just never got around to completing the custom build with a similar design. A co-worker recently told me about Skallywag and voila!, here we are today! I carry 3 of these D2s as shown. The military dog tag chain (yeah, I know, "ID Tag") is a perfect length for an ambidextrous reach just under the edge of the tactical vest if the shit hits the fan. The dual boot carry is also for scenarios when you don't know what side you'll end up on during ground scenarios. I recently had 2 other types of boot knives in sheaths, but Skallywag's sheath design is by far superior and outstanding when it comes to comfort and friction. They're comfortable enough to where I don't feel them inside! Pictured are new (but 25 years old) Army Combat Boots with Vibram soles installed by a local shoe shop. I've been using them for 2 years for the part-time job... the D2s are a phenomenal addition!

This dagger is wicked! It’s tip is super sharp like a needle, yet very durable because it’s made of D2 steel. I pierced it through multiple metal soda cans with ease and it received no damage at all. It’s light weight and extremely comfortable to carry around. I take it with me to work every day to protect myself from the frequent dog attacks I encounter while at work. Definitely worth the money!

Love at first sight <3 I first saw this beauty on the YouTube channel "hard2hurt" and I knew I had to have one! This is truly a quality defensive tool that is comfortable for daily carry. I fancy myself a bit of a blade snob and I love the way this is built. From the D2 steel, the extra large thumb/finger loop, the finger grooves, the intentionally dull sides of the blade descending to an ultra sharp point that could very well pierce rhino hide. (Please do not do that!) All in all this is an excellent tool and worth the price! <3
This was my first Skally Wag order two years ago. Bought it as a blemish blade super cheap. pic shows the blemish, yeah, I can't see it in pic either. Super small scratch in finish you have to get it in light just right to see it a good testament to their quality control. Finish holds up great I bought the kydex sheath and it has been in and out of it, only God knows, how many times. Tip is needle sharp, stout heavy build to blade, if I have to take a knife to a gun fight this will be it, with a sadistic smile. Easily concealed, easy to wield, and built to drive through tough material gristle, tendon, and flesh with a tip that I will bet lives will still sever vitals.
I've been carrying this dagger for a couple of weeks now and can honestly say it's one of the most comfortable blades I've carried. I typically wear 5.11 khakis and put this in the left pocket and half the time forget it's even there. I have no problem sitting crouching down or bending in any direction with this in that position. The pocket clip catches just right so the dagger comes out and the sheath doesn't. Overall, one of the best if not the best-off hand tools for self-defense. I love this dagger. Very practical and tactical. I love the Sheath and clip. I can wear it with any pants or training clothing at the gym. It stays in place and is very comfortable, concealable and deploys wickedly fast.
Absolutely love this. My wife feels very comfortable wearing this, no guess work about getting it open. It is extremely sharp and strong. Great to fit on a vest with molle, which is why I bought it. Awesome dagger and sheath!
