SKALLYWAG "PRIVATEER" FOLDING KNIFE
We are excited to release our first Folder once again. We wanted to work with the KISS rule on this one, (keep it simple stupid) We wanted to bring forward an amazing value and balance between quality and price. We wanted to design a blade you would want to carry everyday and use for everything with features like the high end blades but for a lower end price. We think we have found the balance.

This was my first purchase from Skallywag. I have many knives in my collection, but I immediately since it arrived I have been carrying it every day, regardless of wardrobe. I love the materials, fit and finish. The knife performs damn well in everything I’ve ask of it so far, with the exception of cutting cardboard, that’s just not right to do with a quality knife. I will be on the lookout for more of skallywag’s blades. Great EDC blade.

New Customer
First, I must commend you on your communication and your staff's immediate response to my inquiries about the product and my interest in it. Second, the customer service and shipping was out of this world... During my business years my shipping requirement from my department was less than 24 hours turnaround... We dealt with the military and overseas so we had to be quick and rapid most Ricky tick with our shipments. It is refreshing to see a company today that has the same ethos!
The privateer may be a simple knife but the simplicity is half of the elegance while the other half is pure EDC... My head is rushing with so many things I want to say it's hard to keep track with the order I want to say them in. Putting the presentation aside which was outstanding by the way, once I picked up the knife it felt like it belonged in my hands since birth... holding it forward stance reverse stance didn't matter it felt smooth and comfortable. The attention to detail... the weight... the smoothness... this may be an overseas contract knife but it is obvious it was well-thought-out and well designed by your company(and there are many great companies that contract their machine work for overseas or overseas bidding contracts... I am surely not one to turn my nose up to an overseas contract knife of good quality).

5 pros & 2 cons
Bought this because it was on sale for $99 and I thought I'd take a chance. After a week of screwing around with it, here's what I've found.
PROS - 1. VERY comfortable in the hand (both sabre and reverse grip); 2. quality materials; 3. can be clipped back in the pocket with one hand, yet stays secure; 4. secure blade lock up; 5. not that heavy - it's lighter than the Mini CQC-8 I've carried for years.
CONS - 1. if you're opening it over & over to get the feel of it, the flipper can "stick" (i.e. becomes very difficult to open). However, if you use the part of your finger between the 2nd and 3rd knuckles (rather than the tip of the finger) it works 100% of the time; 2. no thumb stud (although I'm sure the reason was to keep the cost down?) - since the flipper can be difficult a thumb stud would be a nice option. Neither of these cons would be enough to stop carrying it, though.
Again, this knife is designed to fit the hand better than most with an aggressive blade design. Well worth the regular price and was a steal at $99.

Proven Folder
I carry this knife a lot. I have others that cost less and have done a decent job but didn't hold up. I have some that cost me a lot more, but aren't built for everyday work. This knife has never failed me. I've worn the color off the scales, dropped it, cut things I wouldn't with other knives, pried on things with it, punched thru sheet metal, cut steak with it (at a restaurant, their steak knives sucked). I have not been gentle with this knife, but I have never had a problem with it. The edge is still clean, straight and sharp. It is a knife worth carrying in every way, shape and form that you should carry a knife. You will not be disappointed

Outstanding knife
Fantastic knife. Very solid and super smooth function. Great looking as well. I carry this every day and love it. It replaced the Benchmade I've been carrying for years.
Also outstanding customer service.

Love this knife!
Early Christmas present from my wife and man.. this is yet another sweet Skallywag knife! Only thing that kept it from 5 stars... the pocket clip. It's a nice clip, only issue for me is a lot of pants have re-enforced edge for knife clips that makes this clip too tight to fully go on leaving quite a bit sticking out. Can't go wrong with this brand though, well made and super sharp!

Workmanship is top notch!
Heavy, thick, but smooth and precise. VERY well made. Genuinely impressive craftsmanship.

EDC a mini cutlass
I've been beating on my privateer for a year and a half and its a great knife! It came razor sharp and has a smooth action when opening, the d2 blade stayed sharp and then usable sharp for a long time. Overall its a great addition or first step into a Skallywag collection. These guys make some hard use knives.

Fantastic EDC folder!
I have carried my Privateer for over two years now and absolutely love it. It is my EDC that I used almost daily at work or in my garage opening boxes, cutting straps on pallet of material, felt, moleskin, etc. The edge and finish have both held up really well over the years. I would not hesitate to buy this knife again if I ever lost mine. Now that the blue one is out I just might have to add to the collection!
