Love it!

Phenomenal blade. One of the best I've felt in the hands. Bought the Damascus for the cool factor but it's utility remains the same. Lots of people carry a defense blade, many haven't been trained on the one they're actually carrying. They tend to have the poke and pray mentality I guess. Skallywag tactical cares a great deal that you know how to use the blades to their full potential after purchase so they provide video and even in-person training. That's the difference along with premium blades. Buy with confidence and make sure you pick up the rhino sheath for a more concealed carry of the MDV+1.

I enjoy the inherent design of the Damascus, but it needs to be very carefully forged, or like mine, you may end up with a small divot near the tip, or the edge. Strongest metal option, hardest to forge, not every forge will be perfect, but I just hope, in a case of actual use, the tip doesn't break due to this flaw. For example, if it were to break shortly after insertion, it would cause unintentional medical damage, if damage is intended to not be lethal.

Excellent design.

Integrating the MDV into our small unit weapons retention program and bought a Damascus version to supplement. Very impressive. Have just begun to give it some wear testing but the live blade performs very well in hand and is tailorable to your grip. Pretty much a must to buy a trainer as well to work with.

Amazing - MDV Plus One easily became my favorite knife in my collection. Looking forward to getting a trainer and will definitely be keeping up with Skallywag into the future. Solid, and needless to say, very cool.

I love the easy access to the blade due to the design of the ( Discrete ) handle and can be presented so easily at high speed without looking . I love this blade and carry it with me at all times

Uncompromised performance in a great dress!

I just received my Damascus MDV and I couldn’t be happier. Excellent quality from the blade to the sheath all the way down to the packaging. The MDV feels great in the hand, carry’s well and is razor sharp right out of the box. Michael Donvito knocked it out of the park with this design. I highly recommend the MDV (and anything else Skallywag has to offer) for your EDC needs. You won’t be disappointed.

Got my MDV “Blem” today and I already love it. The steel feels as if it has a slight texture that to me at least is not as slippery in my hand. This may replace my much beloved Emerson Mini cqc-15 as my edc “social” blade as back up to my daily carry handgun. I’ll have to get used to it and get one of the Rhino sheaths when they become available again. But so far I couldn’t be happier with my purchase. It’s a lot heftier than I expected and that’s a good thing as it is very solid. On mine the blemish seems to be a “fading?” Of the etching somewhat. But that’s OK as all everything seems just as it should be. I took it to a loaded strop for about 15 swipes and it’s now more than ready (hopefully never) ready for business. Thanks folks i’ve been looking (OK coveting) this for quite a while but couldn’t justify, to me, the cost on a retired income. Thanks for not tossing your rejects. Who knows, maybe one of these days I can afford the Titanium folder! Randy P.S. My B’day is in Feb so this came at a good time

The most beautiful and elegant things are often the most simple, and this knife is a perfect example of this concept. Straightforward and near perfect in design and execution, it is the best every day carry blade I've ever even seen, let alone owned.

I have maybe 6 knives from scallywag but the MDV is my everyday carry favorite. Not only is it beautiful in the Damascus steel it is also functional, easy to carry, sharp, and fits my hand like a dream. This is my favorite everyday carry defensive knife. I always appreciate the really great packaging whenever I get a Skallywag item, and, luckily, even that is never nice enough to rival what's inside. It kind of looked like in the website photos that there was some possibility of chips having pulled out of the damascus billet during the milling operations. But there was no sign of any such thing on the blade I received. Excellent. The impressive part to me was that, even though I have large hands (and was nervous about getting an MDV because of that), I am still able to grip the handle effectively using all four fingers. It's not my preferred length of blade, but I like the primarily defensive idea behind it... so it doesn't really need a lot of internal reach. Obviously the ability to get an attacker to back out of a clinch and start heading off toward the hospital can be a very valuable result. Besides that, the F-S pattern daggers I like best are exceptionally difficult to concealed-carry. Even for a big guy. Nice job, Skallywag and Micheal Donvito!

I purchased the Damascus MDV Plus One and I like the compact size easy to conceal and it fits my hand very well. It was sharp out of the box. I highly recommend buying one.

To say I love the MDV Plus 1 is a very true statment. Then I got the Damascus MDV, and wow! In one word perfection. The the pattern is subdued and very attractive. The over all non glare finish is a big plus to its predecessor. I don't know if it does, but it seems like the finish adds to help with retention in the hand, and during transitions. It is not as slick as the coating on the other model. The weight and size are the same as the other model, another big plus. Get one and see for your self!
