Description
For those of you who wish to carry the MDV outside of the way we designed it we have developed with our friends at Covenant Design a snap retention sheath with soft loop.
The design is based on mounting the sheath OWB horizontal with the one soft loop so you can change the angle of the blade to your liking.. typically appendix carry.
If you want to mount this in a different way then provided you will need to swap out the soft loop for a clip or other attachment of your choosing.
The MDV Retention sheath comes also with a Skallywag IWB/OWB clip and hardware so you can take the loop off and mount the clip if you want.

I needed this no longer hammer digging in to my stomach. The other one it came with dug into my stomach also. Now I forget I have a knife right at my fingertips a must have for concealed carry. No longer rubbing no hot spots just an awesome everyday carry.
I understand the design of the knife and sheath . Love the knife but I hardly carried it because I did not care for the the sheath that the blade arrives with so I was super happy when a normal kydex sheath with reasonable retention became availble. I dont like that I had to pay quite a bit for it and frankly this should either be the default equipment, be an either or choice when purchasing the blade, or it should come with both sheath styles. The new sheath is great, I stuck a small plastic clip on it so it fits great in the front pocket a pair shorts without tearing the pocket up or the worry of the blade popping out of the sheath.

Sheath fit, finish and retention are great. I really like the slots milled into the sides to give you more options.
This sheath is really nice has excellent retention, get a 2.2 slim ULTI clip for this and you are in business for multiple carry options and summer attire. I use this as my ocean swimming trunks and when wearing running shorts with the aluminum blade.

Anything from this site is quality and the company is pretty badass 🤘👍 I practice on my punching with my mdv and use the new sheath, no issues. I also follow their YouTube page so it is nice to feel confident in my gear and in my abilities.

Didn’t fit snug Kinda wobbled around and even when I changed to clip Disappointed I was hoping to wear it on my belt
As usual, Skallywag must seem to know exactly what I need. I have two MDV Plus Ones - one set-up with a lanyard for appendix (or other) carry and one plain for behind-the-belt-over-the-belt-loop carry or pocket carry. This is another great sheath that provides even more carry options and sure retention. I also have the trainer that helps my practice drawing without the need for 10 bandaids if I use a live blade…not saying I cut myself every time I draw, but, as everyone knows, $hit can happen when you practice faster and faster draws.
Haven’t used it officially yet - want to train a bit more before EDC. Fit seems OK and deployment is more to my liking, so far so good!
I love the quality and functionality of all Mike Donvitoes products, they are awesome and excellant for concealment and self protection. Mike is one hell of a guy in every way.

Still evaluating the retention factor. Seems to be fully capable retention but the way I want to wear it has to be 100 percent secure. Also have the original sheath which as long as you wear it handle up isnt a problem however i want it handle down angled for quick access.
Great product
This is a great companion to the Rhino sheath that comes with the MVD-1. This allows horizontal carry on any belt with secure retention. I recommend this as a daily carry option.

Quality built, although a little tight on my hand (I have big bear paws) other than that I Love it. Its apart of my edc load out.

I really like the horizontal carry. Conceals well. I’d also like to see them put out a cutlass style sword for sale. I mean, come on. With a name like skallywag, and two cutlasses used for the cross bones of the Jolly Roger, you have to sell a classic cutlass.
Perfect fit, part of my EDC
I like the horizontal carry, but for the MDV the hooked sheath is shear genius. Having tiny ranger bands around the sheath at first made me a bit concerned, but after wearing the knife for a while, there appears to be no problem that I can see with the design. I have gotten quite a few knives over the years. Very few knives no matter the price, bring it all together in design, construction and utility as well as lethality.
My MDV looks rough because I carry it all the time. Perfect design for me. Everyone of my friends that have seen it want to know more about it and want one. I keep mine very sharp. I enjoy the training videos as well. Great job guys!
Do not trust this company. My order was shipped incomplete and they never made it right after multiple contacts.
Does the job. The eyelets are too small to put standard hardware in. This means attachments can only go in the milled slots. If you want to retain the sheath when drawing this knife this sheath is a must. The rhino sheath is cool but using it as an EDC knife with the rhino sheath means either using both hands or picking the sheath up off the floor after use. Still my favorite knife though! Let's get it in a better steel next!

Great sheath gives mor options for carry
Buy it while it lasts. You won’t regret it. Greater retention and options to carry. With this sheath, I’ve been able to carry as a neck knife attached to a dog tag chain.
Nice compact sheath with good options for carry if you intend to carry the MDV on or inside your belt.
Loved the original horned sheath, the retention sheath makes the MDV my more secured EDC
