Super cool piece! I've got the steel version of this blade already and love it! Thought the idea of an aluminum blade was kinda strange at first, but this thing rocks! It's so light! And it has a pretty sharp edge and of course a wicked point. The sheath just stays locked in place, it may move slightly depending on your clothing, but it's not coming off. Highly recommended for a light self defense option.
Love it, finger loop is a little too big but besides that it's awesome.
Tip bends too easily. Easily sharpened being aluminum but I had to take off about 1/4" to make it useable. I have trepidation about trusting this in a situation. If the tip bent being dropped on a linoleum floor I would not trust it to hold up against an attacker with a heavy jacket, a zipper, a hard object in the pocket, or a bone. A one and done dagger. When your life may depend on that 1/4" tip it means a lot. I'm goin to try my third, and final Skallywag, the metal D2 dagger. Tried the MDV it was too small for my hand. I'll try the metal D2 but that's enough if that doesn't work out.

The ultimate runners defense tool! I pondered the SOCP and knock offs like it for defense while running for years until I saw this on Bill Bur's brother's hard to kill YouTube show. It's so light I forget it's there and the sheath is high quality with consistent draw tension. I have confidence in the material of the sheath will protect me in a fall unlike some of the SOCP knockoffs. The deciding factor was when Bill's brother reviewed drawing the knife with gloves which is not possible with the SOCP line. I am in a northern state and run with gloves often. The rust on the sheath clip gives me my salty runners street cred. Thanks SW tactical!

I like that it weighs nothing and the large thumb loop is great because anyone who has been in a situation knows fine motor skills go out the window. The retention is perfect. It feels comfortable in the hand as well. This is NOT your everyday knife, it is a defensive weapon meant for a one time application do not purchase it as a utility knife.
Was unsure when ordering the aluminum dagger but decided to give it a try. This thing is awesome and I assure you it can cut with out having the razor sharpened steel blade. Definitely do not regret. Skallywag is the best!
Scallywag's 6061 Dagger versus Benchmade's "SOCP". Both are excellent GTFO tools. Benchmade's SOCP's is WAY over priced! However it's advantages over Scallywag's aren't really relevant enough for me! I've got smaller hands, so really the only feature I would change is the size of the retention ring. In the photo you can see A little 550 Paracord mod on my Skallywag dagger's Ring is better for smaller hands. The SOCP'S Sharpened edge has an advantage over Scallywag's..... Somewhat does depends on the situation and what you opponent is wearing... The safest bet is Skallywags cuz of the tip strength and the 1/4" width blade stock is going to create wound twice the thickness of the overpriced SOCP! I hope this review helps a fellow Sheepdog Pirate! Peace Out my friends! BTW: I wish Skallywag would take the"Guardian " and scale her down to the size of the D2 dagger! I love this knife it is perfect as a gift for loved ones who are scared of knifes or cutting themselves, a real confidence builder, for someone looking to carry a self defense weapon with very low risk of hiring them selves when utilized. It also “looks scary” according to every one who has seen it, giving the user a psychological advantage against threats.
This purple dagger is the best tire rock picker I’ve ever owned! And, mounted to my trike, it has a nice little bling factor…
I want to start this review by saying that this thing is VERY well thought out and it absolutely disappears in practically any carry position you choose. But, there’s a trade off. It’s very lightweight because it’s aluminum but that puts a REAL ding in the tip durability. The tip WILL bend. No matter what you do, the tip is GOING to bend on you at some point. That being said. This is designed to be a last ditch “get off of me!” tool. It’s going to do its job even with a slightly bent tip. If you choose to go the aluminum route, just go into it with reasonable expectations and accept it for what it is. If you want to sit and fidget with it and flip it around in your hands, just understand that a drop is probably going to leave that tip slightly bent. You can bend it back straight but it will happen again. If durability is a big issue for you just drop the extra money on the D2 version. The D2 versions finish will probably be more durable as well. I just ordered the D2 version myself. Btw Skallywag…can we get some other color options like red available in the D2 version? Overall I am still pleased and still carry it and I have all the confidence in the world that if the unfortunate time ever comes that I have to use it, it’s going to do exactly what it was designed to do and create some distance between me and my attacker so that I can get my pistol into the fight. And that’s all it needs to do. Great Job Skallywag!!!
Had to knock a star off sadly... Bought two aluminum Daggers (a black one for myself and a Tiff Blue for my wife) Let me start out by saying that I do LOVE the dagger, it's lightweight, the sheath is great (and it doesn't pull my shorts down when I'm wearing it on my waistband) and it's very well designed. I had to knock a star off for my black dagger though... My wife's arrived perfect and the box her dagger was delivered in was wrapped in plastic as expected - her dagger is flawless. But for some reason my black dagger arrived in a box that was not wrapped in plastic at all... And when I opened the box the black coating on the dagger had multiple chips/blemishes in it, where the bare metal underneath is exposed. I'm not sure if I was sent a blem dagger by accident, or was possibly sent a dagger that another customer had purchased and sent back? But I was certainly disappointed to see that my nice new dagger arrived with a few blemishes in the coating, and was delivered in a box that appeared to have been opened previously.
Love the retention, the belt clip is the star for me. So many blade manufacturers make great blades but crappy sheaths and or very crappy belt clips. This holds the blade well and you can draw it without worrying about the sheath coming with, and or moving. Will definitely be getting the steel version.
Received a text alert about a BLEM sale on the aluminum dagger. Just Received it in the mail and I have looked over and over to see where the BLEM could be and I have yet to find it. Very light weight and the packaging was amazing as well. I've bought from skallywag before and the quality of the products are second to none.

It is exactly as described. Light weight, easy to carry. I bought this originally to keep on me when running and it stays very well on the gym shorts. I actually find that I carry this as a companion to my edc pistol. Looking forward to buying more for family members and friends.

This is my lounge wear dagger, my Go too on them gray cloudy weekends. I can put this on sweats or baggy shorts no matter and it preforms flawlessly. I never have to worry about my dagger not drawing from the sheath or the sheath disengaging from my clothing. This is my 7-8 knife from you guys I Love every single one and one is always on my person and my wife at all times.

The aluminum dagger is light fits in the sheath tight no rattling perfect to take with you while running doesn't pull down my basketball shorts and aluminum doesn't rust. Also fits in my hand perfectly.

Overall, I really like this dagger. It came quickly too. The reason for the 4 stars is a question I have. The photo is of the tip. It's not a true tip, but flattened, almost like a very small standard screw driver. It's still sharp. My question is, is that flattened tip part of the design, or a manufacturing flaw?
Light weight and feels good in the hand. I've turned it into a neck knife. I can wear it all day without a problem.

I bought this item largely on a whim. I was curious as to how the light weight aluminum would feel in the hand and work with this design. I was pleasantly surprised to discover how easily it can be used and how the lighter weight allows for a different level of control.
Got the Aluminum Dagger for my wife and I, we both love them. Lightweight and easy to carry at all times. Sheath is top notch, fits on any clothing or bag and stays put when you draw. I like the large loop because it make the dagger very easy to grab without even looking. This is how I wear it on my long runs. Aluminum is a plus because it doesn’t rust from sweat. 🔪
